The Canal Port of Dijon
On the right, you can see two wooden barges, one with two people standing on the stern and a huge rudder, which tells us that the barge was horse-drawn.
In the background, the obelisk erected in 1786 can be seen. Also visible are some old depots where barges delivered building materials for the growing city of Dijon.
The first barge from the River Saône arrived in the port on December 14, 1808, and a barge from Paris arrived on January 2, 1883.
