However, we will explain the typical weather trends over the seasons for a year, which may be of help to you in planning your trip or cruise to Burgundy. Generally, the southern part of the region is warmer, in the plains of the river Saone, to the west as we approach the Loire the climate is mild. The coldest parts of Burgundy are the Morvan hills and Auxois plains.

Spring

The Spring Equinoxe is in late March. As the cold winter temperatures rise to more comfortable levels, the pastures become green and spring flowers pop up everywhere.

Summer

The Summer Solstice is on the 21st of June.

Autumn

The Autumn Equinoxe is in late September.

You'll see smoke rising from the chimneys as people begin to light wood stoves and log fires at this time of year.

Winter

The Winter Solstice is the 21st of December
